About The Position

RiverWoods Manchester is currently hiring a contract Weekend Fitness Instructor to join our Fitness team to lead Saturday morning classes! We are looking for a specialized instructor familiar with working with older adults to design programs to improve balance, flexibility and core strength. Yoga, Tai-Chi, Zumba and/or Pilates background and certification are preferred. As a Fitness Instructor, you’ll help RiverWoods residents reach their goals in a supportive and energizing environment. You will lead group classes focused on proper form, movement, breathing, and flow while working with residents in Independent Living [IL] and Assisted Living [AL]. You will create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for participants of all fitness levels, offer modifications and guidance based on individual needs, demonstrate techniques with clarity and enthusiasm, and encourage consistent attendance and foster a sense of community in your classes. You will work in state-of-the-art facilities with high-quality equipment and spacious studios and track attendance and complete documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Certification in Tai Chi/Yoga/Zumba/Pilates or other area of specialty
  • Experience teaching group fitness or wellness classes
  • Previous experience working with the senior population
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for inspiring others and helping people improve their physical and mental wellness
  • Knowledge of fitness principles, body movement, and safe exercise practices
  • Ability to engage with and motivate a diverse group of participants

Nice To Haves

  • Yoga, Tai-Chi, Zumba and/or Pilates background and certification are preferred.
  • A background in exercise science, health & wellness, or fitness training is a plus
  • Previous experience working in an Independent Living and Assisted Living environment preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
