About The Position

This is not a typical coaching job. At D1 Training North Shore, the Fitness Director & Assistant General Manager is responsible for what actually happens inside the building — the energy, the experience, the team, and the results. You will coach. But more importantly, you will lead people, set standards, and take ownership of outcomes that impact retention, culture, and growth. We help you get there. This role plays a direct part in delivering that experience every day.

Requirements

• NCCA-accredited certification (CSCS, NASM, USAW, ACSM, or similar)
• CPR/AED/First Aid certified
• Experience coaching strength, conditioning, or group training
• Proven ability, or clear potential, to lead and develop others
• Strong presence, energy, and communication skills
• Comfortable being the face of the training floor and building relationships with members
• Proactive mindset around growth, including referrals and community engagement
• Ability to command a room, create energy, and keep people engaged
• Takes ownership of outcomes, not just responsibilities

Nice To Haves

• Collegiate athletic background preferred
• Degree in Exercise Science or related field is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front as a primary coach across youth, adult, and team programs
• Set the tone for every session through energy, structure, and execution
• Ensure a consistent, high-level training experience across all classes
• Oversee athlete assessments and goal-setting during onboarding
• Recruit, hire, and develop a strong coaching staff
• Run coach education, evaluations, and ongoing feedback
• Hold the team accountable to clear performance standards
• Build depth on staff to support growth without sacrificing quality
• Own the day-to-day member experience inside the facility
• Drive retention through engagement, visibility, and follow-up
• Ensure new members are onboarded properly and progressing
• Be a consistent presence members know and trust
• Manage scheduling, staffing coverage, and daily execution
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional training environment
• Ensure equipment and systems support a high-quality experience
• Contribute to membership growth through referrals and community presence
• Support local partnerships, events, and grassroots marketing
• Create an experience that drives word-of-mouth and repeat engagement
• Work closely with ownership on initiatives that improve retention and revenue
