About The Position

The Fishing Sales Associate performs selling and customer-service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and courteously, handling merchandise with care, and providing customers with information, assistance, and direction. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by demonstrating products, providing informed recommendations, maintaining merchandise and displays, and promoting customer programs. The associate works under general supervision and follows established procedures while using occasional independent judgment to complete assignments and recommend improvements.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized point-of-sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk constantly during the shift; occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or ramps; communicate and exchange information; repeat motions involving the wrists, hands, or fingers; operate machinery, power tools, motor vehicles, or heavy equipment; and work in tight or confined spaces and noisy environments.
• Ability to move objects up to 20 pounds constantly and occasionally move or lift objects up to 100 pounds or more using a team lift as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner.
• Provide information, assistance, and direction to customers and handle merchandise with care.
• Demonstrate products to customers and provide recommendations based on their needs.
• Maintain product knowledge through ongoing training and stay informed about advertised sales.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Replenish and restock merchandise according to merchandising guidelines, including assisting with seasonal floor merchandise moves.
• Maintain pricing and signage.
• Keep the work area clean, neat, and stocked with supplies.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Make recommendations regarding work procedures, policies, and practices.
