About The Position

The Fish Specialist helps ensure Petland facilities provide a safe and healthy environment for fish and their habitats, while helping customers select the right fish. The role focuses on animal husbandry, fish health monitoring and recordkeeping, tank presentation, and customer service and sales in the Fish Department. The specialist follows established opening, daily, and closing procedures, checklists, and sales resources, and performs other related duties assigned by management.

• Prefer six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Care for fish and fish habitats in a manner that promotes pet health and customer safety.
• Follow checklists and procedures for opening, daily, and closing routines to maintain high standards of animal husbandry.
• Provide customer service and support sales in the Fish Department using the Petland Mission, 5-Step Sale, and 4-Basic Needs sheets.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Monitor fish health and maintain appropriate records.
• Decorate and maintain tanks to a high presentation standard.
• Conduct regular fish inventories and maintain accurate related documentation.
• Purchase and price fish as needed using internal tools and resources.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
