The Fish and Wildlife Management Foreman is responsible for habitat, wildlife populations and activities on all except major Wildlife Management Areas (WMA). Under supervision of the area biologist, coordinates activities of technical staff and implements daily operations, management and maintenance of the Taylorsville Lake Wildlife Management Area, Rolling Fork WMA, John C. Williams WMA, Knobs State Forest and WMA, and Marion County State Forest and WMA.
Requirements
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a biological, natural, agricultural, or aquacultural sciences.
- Must have one year of experience in wildlife and/or fisheries conservation or related field.
- Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification.
- Must be (and remain) eligible to hold a Commercial Driver's License when required by agency.
- Must maintain any required licensure (s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
- Must be able to work outside in temperature extremes for long periods of time and traverse rough terrain.
- Must be able to swim.

- Highly qualified individuals will possess strong knowledge and experience in agriculture and the operation, maintenance, and light repair of agricultural equipment.
- Crew leader and supervisory experience.
- Experience with managing wildlife habitat.
Responsibilities
- Conduct habitat management practices, prescribed burns, strip mow, strip disk, no-till, and conventional planting per WMA annual work plan. Implement WMA activities and agreements.
- Mow lawn, maintain building, facilities, mark boundaries, operate and maintain farm machinery and other equipment in compliance with department policy and manufacturer specifications.
- Supervise and train seasonal technicians in operation, maintenance, habitat management, process invoices, prepare and monitor WMA budget, maintain inventory, and complete routine reporting.
- Supervise and monitor quota hunts, shooting events, facilities, other recreational use of assigned WMA.
- Provide information on assigned WMAs to Public, Partner Organizations, and Agency Staff Upon Request. Assist public lands biologist with field days and popular articles on WMAs.
- Collect hunter and harvest data, and routine wildlife survey data.
- Trap and band wildlife.
- Performs employee evaluations and recommends disciplinary actions when warranted.
