About The Position

Join us in the exciting, innovative and rewarding environment of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR)! We are seeking a motivated Fish and Wildlife Program Manager to carry out the agency's major statewide capital improvements. Experience in divisional personnel management and state-based capital procurement is preferred.

Requirements

• Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a biological science, public relations, fish and wildlife management, law enforcement, engineering, education, recreation administration, professional accounting, marketing or related field.
• Must have five years of experience in fish and wildlife management, fish and wildlife law enforcement, conservation education, engineering, professional accounting or marketing.
• Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
• Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in divisional personnel management and state-based capital procurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Division Director in the preparation of briefing materials to be used in meetings and in preparation of the budget, and in tracking the Division's progress towards meeting its Strategic Objectives.
• Provides technical advice regarding complex engineering, construction and maintenance issues.
• Ensures staff follow all state, department and engineering guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Assists with the Division's role in the Capital Construction Program, acquisition of State and Federal Permits, and Project Management.
• Reviews and analyzes state and federal laws and regulations to ensure the agency meets all permitting and purchasing requirements.
• Coordinates the preparation of, or prepares project plans for, construction projects within the agency and submits completed plans to the Finance Cabinet for bidding.
• Signs and reviews engineering documents.
• Works closely with the Finance Cabinet in the procurement of design professionals.
• Supervises work and personnel related to the surveying of state lands, construction of projects on state lands and management of grounds on state lands for the Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
