About The Position

Berkeley County Schools is seeking a First Grade Teacher to join their team. The successful applicant will teach first grade and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include creating a flexible first grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with students; motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each student's ability; and establishing good relationships with parents/guardians and with other staff members. This is a 200-day employment term position.

Requirements

• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
• A bachelor's degree in elementary education.
• Hold or be able to obtain WV teacher certification in elementary education.
• Effective classroom management skills.

• If a certified candidate is unavailable for this position, then an applicant who is eligible for a first-class permit, alternative certification, Teacher-in-Residence, or a perm sub can be considered.
