About The Position

The Richmond County District Attorney (RCDA) is seeking to hire an Assistant District Attorney to serve as the First Executive Assistant District Attorney. The First Executive Assistant District Attorney serves as a member of the Executive Team at RCDA. The Executive Team is made up of ADA’s who provide leadership and oversight for the RCDA. The First Executive ADA is primarily responsible for advising the DA and the Executive Team on legal and policy matters related to investigations, crime strategy, allegations of crimes by public servants, including police officers.

Requirements

  • Must be a New York State resident.
  • Possess Juris Doctor and admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
  • The candidate selected for this position must be a resident of the City of New York or become a resident within 90 days of appointment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Police Officer.
  • 10 or more years’ experience as a prosecutor within a criminal justice system with five or more years of experience in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity strongly preferred.
  • Experience prosecuting assaults on Police Officers and Police involved shootings cases a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the RCDA’s Liaison to NYPD and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Engage with community leaders to discuss crime initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on allegations of police misconduct including matters before the Civilian Complaint Review Board and the NYPD Internal Affairs.
  • Oversee Critical Incidents such as police involved shootings.
  • Manage RCDA’s Economic Crimes, Public Corruption, Detective Squad, Body Worn Camera and Crime Strategies Units.
