About The Position

Under supervision of the Fireworks Commissioner, this role supervises and coordinates activities to maintain protection and ensure the safety of fireworks stands where needed. The position involves supervising and training staff, performing security patrols, protecting property from theft and vandalism, responding to emergencies and incidents, investigating and reporting on various situations, and providing assistance to Tribal members, employees, and visitors. The role also involves calling law enforcement for unauthorized individuals and handling confidential information responsibly. Employees may be expected to perform a wide range of duties, including driving, as part of the Tribe's commitment to community service.

Requirements

  • Must provide own transportation.
  • Must hold a valid Washington State Driver’s license.
  • Skilled in understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
  • Skilled in writing investigative reports.

  • Skilled in making independent sound decisions.
  • Skilled in operation of related security equipment including a two-way radio and motor vehicle.
  • Skilled in emergency preparedness training and understanding.
  • Skilled in operation of standard office equipment and personal computer.
  • Knowledge of defensive tactics and use of force.
  • Knowledge of basic criminal and civil legal protections for persons and property.
  • Knowledge of security operations and safety practices.
  • Ability to detain and restrain individuals who are a threat to others, themselves, or MIT property.
  • Ability to complete reports and file reports manually and/or electronically.
  • Ability to operate job related equipment, such as two-way radio, motor vehicle, and computer.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a culturally diverse setting.
  • Ability to learn and complete training programs.
  • Ability to learn, comprehend, and follow detailed instructions and/or training programs.

  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles.
  • Moderate to loud noise level in the work environment usually in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and training Fireworks staff during assigned shift.
  • Performs security patrols of Fireworks stands.
  • Protects property from theft and vandalism.
  • Observes and responds to emergencies, incidents, procedure violations, criminal, and other activities as they occur.
  • Reports irregularities during the shift to the Security Manager, including employee, visitor, and operational issues.
  • Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, and other security related situations.
  • Proofreads written security reports and forwards to Fireworks Commissioner for approval.
  • Provides any needed assistance to Tribal members, employees and visitors.
  • Calls appropriate law enforcement agency regarding unauthorized, trespassing, hostile, aggressive or loitering individuals from Tribal facilities and/or community events.
  • Responsible for proper handling of confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials.
