This position will be responsible for providing Fire and Emergency Services, utilizing resources to accomplish operational requirements, and will report to the assigned Crew Chief. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Place of performance is on the USSF base on Ascension Island.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience at the duty position.
  • Fire service certifications must be either DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Firefighter is required.
  • A minimum of Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter (ARFF), Hazmat awareness and operations.
  • A Valid CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Must pass an entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582.
  • Valid Driver License from country of origin.
  • English proficiency rating by TOEFL or IELTS for Writing, Conversation, and Comprehension.

Nice To Haves

  • Firefighting School Graduate Desired
  • Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS).
  • DOD, IFSAC or ProBoard Apparatus Driver
  • Mobile Water Supply
  • ARFF vehicles
  • Prior work experience in managing fire services in austere environments is highly desired.
  • 2- and 4-year degrees are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a structural, airport, and Haz-Mat (operations) responder on a scheduled rotation.
  • Operates firefighting equipment such as pumps, foam generators, boom, and ground sweep nozzles to extinguish fires.
  • Must be knowledgeable in auto extrication operations and victim/patient care.
  • Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is fully operational.
  • Must comply with Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Air Force Fire and Emergency Services Training Program (AF EMSTP), and AFI 32-2001 for all recurring certification and training requirements.
  • Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved.
  • Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is in operable condition.
  • Participates in fire drills as scheduled.
  • Attends training as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
