About The Position

The Town of Oxford Fire Department is seeking to hire one full-time, benefit-eligible Firefighter/Paramedic (FF/P). This is a non-supervisory role focused on Fire-EMS rescue operations and advanced life support emergency medical care, adhering to Massachusetts State Law and EMS Protocols. The FF/P will be responsible for fire prevention and suppression, extrication from dangerous situations, and mitigation of hazardous materials. Additionally, the role involves maintaining equipment and vehicles, completing necessary documentation, and participating in ongoing training programs. Oxford Fire and EMS is committed to providing continuous hands-on and electronic training to ensure staff preparedness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate/Completion from an accredited EMS Training Program and Certified as a Paramedic
  • American Heart Association CPR/Defib Certification
  • Current valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Firefighter I/II Certification
  • Graduate of the Recruit or Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Firefighter programs
  • Career Firefighter/Paramedic lateral transfer from a full-time fire department

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions in prevention and suppression of fires and/or extrications from any life-threatening circumstances.
  • Mitigate hazardous materials to the extent allowed.
  • Provide other emergency/non-emergency services as directed by senior officers.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Monitor and maintain vehicles to ensure they are in response ready condition.
  • Complete and monitor checklists, reports, forms and other fire/medical legal documents each shift.
  • Participate in required training classes.
