About The Position

The Firearms Compliance Auditor is a role within our Firearms Department, supporting various locations nationwide, with current coverage focused on our retail stores. This position requires 100% travel and is based entirely within store locations that maintain Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs). As a Firearms Compliance Auditor, you will be responsible for verifying firearm inventory accuracy and ensuring compliance with internal policies as well as all Federal Firearms Regulations. This includes identifying, documenting, and reporting discrepancies in inventory and records, as well as flagging suspicious transactions, potential trafficking activity, or straw purchases. A working knowledge of firearms and federal regulations is highly beneficial for success in this role. This role requires strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and the ability to analyze inventory records and documentation. This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule, with no travel required on weekends. Travel is fully supported by the company. For assignments requiring travel of 75 miles or more, a rental car will be provided. For travel under 75 miles, a monthly car allowance of $200 is provided to cover gas and mileage expenses.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability and willingness to travel 100% (locally and nationally, including air travel as needed)
  • Ability to become a listed Responsible Person with the ATF, including passing a federal background check
  • Strong teamwork mindset with a people-focused approach
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in basic math calculations
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and active listening communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with the ATF
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Experience working with audits, inventory reconciliation, or data analysis
  • A working knowledge of firearms and federal regulations

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with team members and management, maintaining professionalism and respect
  • Audit firearm records, including ATF Form 4473, Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) records, and internal operational documentation to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Make appropriate and permitted corrections or updates based on audit findings
  • Prepare detailed Firearms Inventory Audit reports, including all required corrections and supporting information
  • Complete all assigned training successfully
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
