About The Position
Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is seeking Fire Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices for its Southeast branch in Deerfield Beach, FL. This family-owned business, with over 48 years of experience and 7 branches across Florida and North Carolina, is dedicated to a life-saving industry and fostering a supportive company culture. Apprentices will support the Commercial Foreman with daily tasks on the job site, reporting to the Commercial Superintendent/Manager and working under the direction of the Commercial Foreman. This role is fast-paced and requires physical stamina.
Requirements
- Construction experience preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Travel within the local community is required with reliable transportation.
- Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check screening including 10 years of employment verification is required.
Responsibilities
- Install Fire Sprinkler systems accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
- Work with the Foreman on the job site to follow procedures, blueprints, and instructions to assemble and install pipes, tubes, and fittings.
- Connect fire pump valves and pipes using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand tools.
- Assist with and secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers using hand and power tools.
- Run lines and sprinkler heads straight and in accordance with plans, adjust hangers, etc.
- Ensure systems are glued together properly and follow procedures to test the system for leaks.
- Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
- Work outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons including summer months.
