About The Position

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is seeking Fire Sprinkler Apprentices and Fitters for its Jacksonville branch to work in the surrounding areas. Apprentices and Fitters support the Commercial Foreman with daily tasks on the job site, reporting to the Commercial Superintendent/Manager and working under the direction and supervision of the Commercial Foreman. This role is fast-paced and requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including climbing ladders, using industry tools, working overhead, lifting up to 60 pounds, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing, and walking regularly. Requirements

  • Construction experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • Travel within the local community is required with reliable transportation.
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening including 10 years of employment verification is required to be hired.

Responsibilities

  • Install Fire Sprinkler systems accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Work with the Foreman on the job site to follow procedures, blueprints, and instructions to assemble and install pipes, tubes, and fittings.
  • Connect fire pump valves and pipes using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand tools.
  • Assist with and secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers using hand and power tools.
  • Run lines and sprinkler heads straight and in accordance with plans, adjust hangers, etc.
  • Ensure systems are glued together properly and follow procedures to test the system for leaks.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
  • Work outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons including summer months.
