About The Position

The Fire Science Program Assistant at Umpqua Community College is a student employment opportunity that provides hands-on experience supporting the Fire Science program while building professional skills. In this role, you will help maintain training equipment, manage inventory, and prepare classrooms and practical exercises, working alongside Fire Science faculty and staff to ensure students have a safe and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, organize, and maintain fire science equipment, tools, and PPE.
• Prepare equipment and training props for classroom, lab, and practical exercises.
• Set up and put away equipment before and after training activities.
• Conduct routine inventory counts and help keep inventory records accurate.
• Report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipment to the Fire Science Coordinator.
• Assist with basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs as directed.
• Maintain maintenance logs and equipment tracking records.
• Support special projects and other departmental needs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Fire Science Coordinator.
