About The Position

College of The Albemarle invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Full-Time Program Coordinator Faculty. Full-time program coordinators faculty are responsible for providing specialized leadership and administrative oversight for their academic program, high-quality instruction, supporting student success, and participating in activities that advance the mission of the College. Program Coordinators Faculty are expected to contribute to curriculum development, student advising, institutional service, and continuous improvement within their academic discipline. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Employment is contingent upon funding availability, Board approval, successful completion of the College's pre-employment process, and continued institutional need. Faculty may be assigned courses at any College of The Albemarle campus, instructional site, online, or other approved instructional locations based on program needs. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, or online courses, and travel throughout the College's service area may be required. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal Firefighter certification.
Current driver’s license valid in North Carolina with an acceptable driving record.
Must obtain North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal Fire Instructor certification within one (1) year of employment.
Must obtain North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal qualification to instruct Firefighter within one (1) year of employment.
Must attend North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal School Director Course within six (6) months of employment.
Experience in fire service operations, emergency response, fire instruction, or a closely related field.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or higher in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Safety, or a related field.
Experience serving in a career, volunteer, military, industrial, fire department or combination.
Experience coordinating fire and rescue service training programs.

Responsibilities

Teach fire and rescue service training courses to ensure compliance with North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM), North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), accreditation standards, and College requirements, including evening, weekends, off-site, distance, online, and hybrid formats as needed.
Provide classroom, laboratory, field, and practical fire service instruction as assigned.
Develop and deliver current, engaging curriculum using effective instructional methods and learning technologies; assess student learning; maintain accurate records; and submit required reports on time.
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment that supports diverse learners and promotes the dignity and value of each person.
Participate in curriculum development, assessment, program review, accreditation, compliance, budget planning, and continuous-improvement activities.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional practices, industry standards, and emerging trends in fire and rescue.
Advise students and, as appropriate, support student organizations.
Contribute to recruitment, retention, community engagement, and institutional initiatives; serve on assigned committees; and attend required meetings, training, professional-development activities, and College events.
Maintain required teaching and office hours; protect student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, state law, and College policy.
Comply with all College policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain an active faculty role, fulfill standard faculty responsibilities, and provide high-quality instruction that supports student learning and success.
Recruit, orient, mentor, supervise, and evaluate adjunct and program faculty.
Support faculty development, instructional improvement, personnel recommendations, and compliance with attendance, grading, and other required documentation.
Coordinate instructional coverage as needed and use student-evaluation results to strengthen teaching and program outcomes.
Lead the Fire and Rescue Services training program in alignment with College policies, OSFM standards, NCCCS requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Coordinate curriculum, scheduling, program review, assessment, student-learning outcomes, continuous improvement, and new course or program development.
Coordinate course logistics, including facilities, instructors, equipment, instructional materials, and student registration.
Develop, implement, and maintain Fire and Rescue Services Training standard operating procedures, operational guidelines, and safety practices.
Use enrollment, retention, completion, course, and other relevant data to guide planning, program growth, and student-success strategies.
Manage program resources, including textbooks, equipment, facilities, records, accreditation materials, and budget development and monitoring.
Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming learning environment.
Conduct program meetings, maintain required documentation, respond to program concerns and correspondence, and communicate regularly with the Department Chair and/or Academic Dean.
Represent the College professionally at meetings, community events, and regional fire service activities.
Advise prospective and current students regarding program requirements, certification pathways, and career opportunities.
Maintain an active Advisory Committee and build relationships with local fire departments, emergency service agencies, municipal governments, state regulatory agencies, high schools, and regional partners to promote the program and identify workforce needs.
Support program marketing and recruitment, submit award nominations, and participate in College committees and events.
