About The Position

AFO is looking for a Fire Protection EMT to work in Piketon, OH. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! Combats fire or other emergencies as they arise. Responsible for knowing the operation and location of all hydrants, extinguishers, and sprinkling systems. Required to know the operation and maintenance of all types, including specialized firefighting equipment.

Requirements

  • Must hold current Ohio EMT-Basic/Intermediate/Paramedic and Ohio Firefighter II Certifications.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as an active fire fighter and EMT (career or volunteer), with documented evidence of emergency response activity.
  • Must be able to meet the agility test requirements.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of working as an emergency responder.
  • Must be able to wear Level A encapsulating suits, respiratory protection, and function in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure, and other repetitive tasks such as balancing, bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, raising both arms above shoulder, sitting, stooping, walking, full use of both hands, working at both low and high speeds, seeing color, depth perception, normal vision (Equipment Class-1) and hearing.
  • Must be able to perform medium to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds constantly.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, dry/dusty/hot/humid/wet environments, high places, work with acids, alkali, fumes/gases/vapors/ solvents/radioactive material, oil & greases, exposure to burns, sudden temperature changes, mechanical hazards, moving objects, outside work.
  • Must be able to wear company provided personal protective equipment and respiratory protection when required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate emergency response vehicles.
  • Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
  • Must be able to obtain a Q clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge and Experience with all types of fixed industrial fire protection equipment, hazmat, building collapse, trench and rope rescue training is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of supervision respond to fire, EMS, and Hazmat emergencies.
  • Inspection and testing of hydrants, fire extinguishers, sprinkling systems, smoke detection and other fire protection systems.
  • Required to know the operation and maintenance of all types, including specialized firefighting equipment.
  • May be called on to instruct in training programs and auxiliary crews.
  • Participates in regular drills.
  • Must be able to communicate with the public as a 911 operator.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shift work.
