About The Position

Chemeketa Community College is seeking a full-time Fire Program Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Fire Suppression and Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction programs. A primary focus of the position will be supporting drill operations and all logistical requirements to facilitate effective, efficient and productive training opportunities. The position is based at the Brooks Regional Training Center. The fire program recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and has a long history of training the next generation of first responders. Brooks is an active campus and a training resource for the region. Requirements

  • Equivalency of eight (8) years of full-time that reflects the knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions listed above.
  • Associate's Degree in Fire Protection Technology or related field and six (6) years of full-time work experience which reflects the knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions listed above.
  • Hazmat Awareness and Operations Certification
  • NFPA Firefighter II Certification
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to assess, problem solve and think critically
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts clearly to a diverse student audience in a manner that invites learning
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and maintain records
  • Ability to safeguard and appropriately keep confidential or sensitive information

  • Strong technology skills with the ability to engage lessons in a remote modality
  • Ability to establish and maintain a civil, productive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for students who will transition into a professional work setting

Nice To Haves

  • More than seven (7) years of experience in Fire Service
  • Paramedic Licensure
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working in a Community College environment
  • Fire Instructor II Certification

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates drill scheduling and logistics
  • Oversee and manage the fire program supplies and equipment
  • Self-Contained Breather Apparatus (SCBA) management
  • Responsible for vehicle scheduling and maintenance
  • Supports classroom lab logistics
  • Works proactively and collaboratively with other staff members and assists in the successful operation of the program
  • Participates in professional developmental activities
  • Promotes positive image of college and college programs
  • Develops and maintains contacts with community and professional organizations
  • Assists Advisory Committee as needed
  • Assists faculty and staff during drill training events
  • Provides logistical coordination, scheduling and reporting related to drill operations
  • Manages all required testing and completion and certification of equipment and props
  • Assists with student application process and selection
  • Develop and maintain professional communication with all affiliated agencies
  • Keeps current on technological changes that impact Fire Protection instruction
  • Participates as an active and effective member of the college
  • Maintains required state and national professional credentials and completes related continuing education for credentials
  • Supports and participates in assigned outreach activities to promote the Fire Program
  • Completes required college training (e.g. FERPA, ADA, Canvas, IT, etc.)
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned

  • Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success
