Fire Prevention Inspector I/II/III -C (Permitting Services)

About The Position
Performs specialized field and office work in fire prevention with responsibility for enforcement of fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances. This includes the inspection of commercial buildings to ensure compliance. Initiative and judgment must be exercised to recognize fire hazards and acquire code compliance. Field work exposes employees to varying weather conditions, chemicals, noxious fumes, insects, heights, and confined areas. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed through daily conferences.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate
- Six (6) months experience in fire inspection, fire prevention or related field (for Inspector I)
- Two (2) years experience in fire inspection, fire prevention (for Inspector II)
- Four (4) or more years experience in fire inspection, fire prevention (for Inspector III)
- State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Pass a background check which includes a polygraph
