Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience OR Associate's degree in Fire Sciences with 8 years of related experience
  • Meet requirements of NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Instructor level II
  • Meet requirements of NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, Technician level
  • Meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, Technician level, Rope and Confined Space Rescue
  • 2 years of experience as a Fire Instructor
  • Experience in power plant emergency response operations
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations; NRC, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NFPA

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a member of a community emergency response organization, recent or current
  • Strong working knowledge of Constellation's systematic approach to training process activities and regulatory requirements
  • Completion of Constellation fire brigade, hazardous materials, confined space rescue team, and incident commander training
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Drives personnel performance improvement through training.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and conducts performance-based training programs as required in accordance with Constellation's systematic approach to training model, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts 'hands on' interior structural firefighting requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment as well as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), HazMat training, and Confined Space Rescue training.
  • Supervises all aspects of training activities and trainees.
  • Creates, maintains, and revises training materials as necessary, utilizing the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation process.
  • Assures the training programs are maintained current, in accordance with regulations and incorporate information gained from: Federal and state regulations and requirements, Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) and Constellation significant operating experience reports, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) bulletins, informational notices, pertinent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and industry best practices.
  • Creates and maintains auditable training records and reports required to document training program activities.
  • Maintains, designs, and constructs training props to provide realistic plant-like training opportunities for trainees.
  • Travels to other facilities to perform benchmarking, oversight activities, audits, and assessments as required.
  • Supports the fleet in areas of business initiatives, project management, Emergency Preparedness (EP) duties, and special projects.
  • Performs other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: Emergency Response duties and/or coverage, Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.
