About The Position

The Fire Inspection Supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and direct supervision to Fire Inspectors in support of the city’s community risk reduction and fire prevention initiatives. Oversees inspection quality, consistency, and compliance with applicable fire codes, standards, and municipal regulations. Coordinates training, mentoring, and special projects while fostering collaboration with internal departments and external partners. Supports succession planning, recruitment and onboarding efforts, and interdepartmental coordination to strengthen fire prevention services and enhance public safety citywide.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Five years' experience as a fire inspector for a government agency.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
  • Requires International Code Council Fire Inspector II certification.
  • Must have completed the Fire Investigation I – IV series training through the Arizona Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators or equivalent training.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Fire Investigation Technician certification from the International Association of Arson Investigators or an equivalent or higher fire investigation certification. If this certification is not held at the time of hire, must achieve within six months of hire/promotion and maintain throughout tenure.
