About The Position

The City of Henderson is seeking to fill one part-time vacancy for the classification of Fire Department Media Content Assistant. This role involves performing various social media, marketing, and communications tasks to support the Henderson Fire Department. The position requires creating engaging social media content, capturing photo and video footage at events, editing video content for web and social platforms, and contributing to campaign ideas. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to connect with a diverse audience, be self-driven, energetic, adept to a fast-paced environment, and capable of accomplishing multiple tasks. This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position that does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation. Enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS) is required. The work schedule will average 19 hours per week, with potential for increase or decrease based on departmental needs. A flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, may be required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience in social media, public outreach, community involvement, communications, or closely related experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license as defined by NRS 483
  • Portfolio (ex. Professional social media posts to include photos, videos, and reels)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fire services, emergency services, or law enforcement
  • Six (6) months experience in video editing and production

Responsibilities

  • Creating engaging social media content to be published on the City's various profiles and platforms.
  • Staffing various programs and events to capture high-quality photo and video footage.
  • Capturing B-roll footage to enhance the visual storytelling of videos.
  • Planning, editing, and creating engaging high-quality video content for web and social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing fresh ideas for campaign themes and content.
  • Performing a variety of support duties including organizing and storing digital assets.
