About The Position

Assure operation of fire alarm, emergency lighting, exit signs and other related equipment/systems. Work in conjunction with Xanterra Risk Department Managers and outside Telecommunications Contractors. This is a full-time, year-round position located at the south rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. The role involves maintaining and repairing fire alarm and suppression systems to ensure compliance with codes and standards, while also coordinating with various internal departments and external contractors. Requirements

Knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppression system operation.
Knowledge of applicable codes for fire alarm and suppression systems.
Must be familiar with the use of materials and equipment common to the trade.
Know basic electrical and electronic circuitry principles as they apply to fire alarm systems and the ability to stay current with new technology.
Must have ability to identify code and equipment deficiencies and recommend proper corrective action.
Must have physical ability and agility to enter confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders and to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
Frequently: Stand, walk, handle, reach outward/above shoulders, climb, crawl, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 25 lbs.
Occasionally: Sit, lift/carry up to 100 lbs., push/pull up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

Responsible for preventative maintenance, testing and record keeping for all fire alarm and suppression systems on the property as required by code.
Identify and resolve issues with fire alarm and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and National Park Service standards.
Install replacement fire alarm and suppression system components.
Respond to all Trouble alarms, resolving the issues quickly and returning systems to full operation.
Responsible for initiation of material orders, maintenance of inventories and accounting for all materials and tools.
Responsible for coordinating all work-related activities with the National Park Service, Risk management, Fire & Security and Switchboard.
Ensure that all building codes as related to the position are being adhered to.
Coordinate visits with outside contractors to complete complex repairs and new installations.
Comply with all safety, risk management, and environmental policies related to the position.
Other duties as assigned.
