About The Position

KC Low Voltage is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician Apprentice interested in starting a career in fire alarm and life safety systems. No prior experience is required - just reliability, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in learning a skilled trade. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing things right, and wants to learn from experienced leaders in the field. Apprentices will gain hands-on training while working alongside experienced technicians and foremen. We are building our team intentionally and are looking for people who want to grow with us long term. Hourly wage starts at $16.00 and up.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
No prior fire alarm or low voltage experience required.
Interest in construction, electrical work, or technology systems preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems.
Ability to use basic hand tools (training provided).
Positive attitude and strong reliability.
Ability to work as part of a crew.
Willingness to learn and accept coaching.
Lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
Regular bending, climbing, reaching, and walking.
Work from ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
Operate hand and power tools safely.
Valid driver's license.
Reliable transportation.
Flexible availability including occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist technicians with installation of fire alarm panels, devices, and low voltage cabling.
Learn to read drawings and follow installation plans under supervision.
Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of life safety systems.
Maintain tools, materials, and organized work areas.
Participate in ongoing training and certification development.
Follow all OSHA safety procedures and company standards.
Communicate professionally with team members and customers.
