We’re seeking a Fire Alarm Field Service Technician Apprentice in or around the Bloomington, IL area to join our team and build a long-term career with ORR Protection. As a Field Service Technician, you are a vital part of our front line and the backbone of our organization. In this role, you’ll work with some of the largest and most successful companies in the world while receiving top-notch training on industry-leading fire alarm systems and fire suppression equipment. Our apprentice technicians participate in a formalized training program that includes both hands-on training and in the field experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Basic computer literacy.
Basic mechanical and electrical ability.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously.
Demonstrated customer service mindset.
Job duties require the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and crawl into tight or awkward places.
Apprentice technicians will work under the supervision of an experienced technician.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or certification in low-voltage electricity or related field, preferred.
Military fire protection experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspection and testing tasks according to OPS work instructions.
Test and clean smoke detectors
Test manual pull stations and other initiating devices
Test other system inputs and outputs
Test and verify audio visual components
Inspect and measure weight of agent storage containers
Record inspection and test results in the company’s electronic inspection program.
Assist in installation and commissioning tasks with supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
