This position is represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) - Local 1264 Union and is subject to the current provisions of the agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the IAFF Local 1264 Union. The role is responsible for Anchorage Areawide (including Chugiak and Girdwood) Emergency Medical Service (EMS) transport and fire billing of approximately 17,000 runs per year. It requires the use and knowledge of multiple computer tracking and reporting systems, knowledge of complex billing protocols, and resolving daily discrepancies including missing information in various computer applications. The position also serves as the records custodian for fire and EMS incident reports, researches Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) data, prepares records release documents, and responds to subpoenas and court orders, including court appearances. Additionally, the role supports the department's Federal DEA compliance program by administering controlled substance logs, tracking, and performing detailed monthly reconciliation. The employee will maintain current training with the Medical Supply Tech to provide EMS inventory restocking at hospitals on an as-needed basis. The role performs a full range of administrative duties as staff support for the Municipality of Anchorage EMS Medical Advisory Board and Headquarters Administration, including assisting walk-in clients and answering phones. Back-up support for department timekeeping/payroll is also a responsibility, along with other assigned duties.
