2nd Shift Finishing Operator
About The Position
Quad In-Store is seeking entry-level and experienced machine operators for its West Allis facility. The role involves setting up and operating finishing equipment, including die cutters, guillotine cutters, and stock mounters, to meet customer specifications. Operators inspect product quality, move work-in-process materials, complete job documentation, report productivity and defects, and maintain equipment and a clean work area. The scheduled shift is Monday through Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.; Fridays and Saturdays may be needed for overtime. Training on first shift, 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., is preferred.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written comprehension.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations; strong math skills are specified.
- Ability to operate simple computer functions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and process written job instructions, including dimensions and quantities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow instructions and use vision to identify defects.
- Ability to bend and continuously lift 10–15 pounds, occasionally lift up to 70 pounds, stand for long hours, and use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Prior machine operator experience and familiarity with finishing equipment.
- Forklift operation or other material-handling equipment experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate finishing equipment to customer specifications.
- Inspect products for conformity to quality specifications.
- Move work-in-process to and from machines using an electric pallet jack or forklift.
- Read and understand job tickets.
- Complete necessary job paperwork.
- Report productivity achievements, waste, and defects.
- Follow production schedules and quality requirements.
- Communicate with the supervisor, finishing operators, material handlers, and coworkers.
- Clean and maintain the work area.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and production adjustments on equipment as needed.
