About The Position

The Finishing Foreman is responsible for managing subcontractors across all finishing trades and guiding homes from the second phase of construction through to completion and homeowner handover. The Finishing Foreman oversees the scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and employees during this phase and works closely with the Site Superintendent to lead the project team. The Finishing Foreman plans both short and long-term crew activities, resolves construction and finishing issues, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and field operations. The role involves managing small to medium-sized projects or leading a specific component of a major project while ensuring proper site protocols are followed. As a field leader, the Finishing Foreman provides technical expertise, project oversight, and operational leadership, while supporting Tartan Homes Corporation’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum 10 years of construction and finishing site experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of residential supervisory or leadership experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and blueprint reading.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of construction execution and industry best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Basic technology proficiency: experience using scheduling software is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.

  • Red Seal Carpenter certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all subcontractors performing finishing services.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site finishing activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain construction and finishing management plans.
  • Monitor, update, and maintain finishing schedules.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and in accordance with contracted scopes of work.
  • Plan, schedule, and review crew activities and work assignments.
  • Plan and review drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate activities between the site team, trades, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Resolve finishing-related issues efficiently and proactively.
  • Liaise with the Customer Service Department on warranty matters, as required.
  • Manage customer service concerns and homeowner issues related to finishing work.
  • Ensure the site safety program is followed in collaboration with the Site Superintendent and Health & Safety Manager.
  • Maintain and enforce quality control standards, including completion of daily inspections.
  • Ensure accuracy of all home finishes and homeowner upgrades.
  • Verify accuracy of trade progress claims and completion requests.
  • Ensure adequate human and material resources are in place to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and maintain good site housekeeping practices.
