About The Position
This is a temp-to-full-time position where the Finishing Associate is responsible for ensuring parts meet cosmetic standards. This involves visually inspecting parts for defects, removing excess metal using grinders, and operating automated cells. The role also includes performing minor maintenance on equipment and maintaining a clean work area.
Requirements
- Ability to stand 8+ hours for their shift
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
- All candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- All candidates must be willing to submit to a national background check.
Nice To Haves
- Casting and Foundry experience a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Finishes parts by observing if the part meets cosmetic standards (surface appearance or determining any defects).
- Removes remaining 'risers'.
- Grinds down 'gate' surfaces.
- Compares parts to visual criteria sheet image and according to work instructions.
- Visually inspects castings/parts for defects such as blow holes, sand holes, shrink, imperfect gates, crush, etc.
- Notes variances in part from visual criteria sheet/customer specifications.
- Operates various grinders to remove excess metal from parts.
- Operates various automated cells to process castings.
- Performs minor maintenance on the grinders (replacing wheels & bits).
- Keeps work area clean by performing general housekeeping duties.
