About The Position

This role involves a variety of tasks related to the finishing of molded metal or plastic parts. The position requires operating machinery, using hand and power tools, quality inspection, and potentially working with molten metal. The job also includes routine maintenance, forklift operation, and computer interaction. The role emphasizes quality, problem-solving, and adaptability to changing schedules and duties.

Requirements

  • Reading and understanding English language work instructions.
  • Some computer use.

  • One or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Consistently able to manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend.
  • Consistently able to power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck.
  • Consistently able to walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks.
  • Consistently able to push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Consistently able to see, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality.
  • Consistently able to read and understand written English language work instructions.
  • Consistently able to work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions.
  • Consistently able to climb ladders and stairs of varying heights.
  • Consistently able to wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by LSI (Protective Footwear, Hearing Protection, Protective Eyewear, Gloves).
  • Additional PPE may be required by specific tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, measure, weigh, mark, label, count, blend, track, record, inspect, package, and palletize various products or materials.
  • Set up and use various hand and power tools to finish edges, remove flash, clear holes, saw, sand, grind, blast clean or trim molded metal or plastic parts.
  • Use hand tools to clean, paste and assemble sand cores.
  • Operate numerous machines to fabricate products.
  • Set up and dismantle machine fabricating equipment, including flow of lubricants, pressure, depth of stroke, and installing/positioning/aligning molds/dies.
  • Assist with or perform routine maintenance, lesser repairs, or cleaning.
  • Operate a forklift to move and store products and load/unload trucks.
  • Enter information and interact with computer software and documents.
  • Alloy, transfer, and pour molten metal into molds, ladles, and bull ladles.
  • Regulate furnace/metal temperature; stirring, fluxing, and skimming off dross.
  • Inspect for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Monitor for unsatisfactory quality or unusual operating conditions and alert the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Instruct others on work instructions and specific techniques.
  • Responsible for quality of work and to appropriately resolve unusual operating conditions.
  • Modify work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
