This is an entry level position where the finisher will apply a variety of standard and experimental finishes to both production and prototype machined parts in conformance with military specifications. Ensures proper surface masking and preparations, mixing epoxies and solvents to appropriate ratios by weight, volume or viscosity, incorporating a knowledge scales and weights and how substances interact. Prepares the surfaces of parts, assemblies and finished products by cleaning, stripping, abrading, sanding, masking and stenciling. Selects and mixes finishing materials: coats and/or touches up product with such materials as paint, acrylic, Varnish, enamel, lacquer and stain application. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and procedures. Works from blueprints and process sheets to develop finishing processes, applications and techniques where thickness tolerances are critical.
