About The Position

The Finished Product Technician is responsible for operating the winder, grading the material, reclaiming all salvageable materials, & re-entering reclaimed materials into production, ensuring that all finished products are packaged & stacked in compliance with the Siplast Packaging Specification, & properly stored in the warehouse. The Finished Product Technician reports to the Production Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have the ability to be trained in, and demonstrate comprehension in material grading.
  • Must become knowledgeable of all products.
  • Must have legible writing skills for the completion of daily reports.
  • Must have the ability to be trained in and demonstrate comprehension of startup, operation, and shutdown of auto-bagger machine, oven, stacker, wrapping table, and the operation of the stretch film machine.
  • Must be trained in the duties, requirements, and safety precautions associated with “confined spaces”.
  • Certified Forklift Technician (CFT)-MSSC.
  • Must be a certified forklift operator or have the ability to be trained and certified.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the winder, grade material, reclaim salvageable materials, and re-enter reclaimed materials into production.
  • Ensure all finished products are packaged and stacked in compliance with the Siplast Packaging Specification.
  • Properly store finished products in the warehouse.
  • Grade material according to specifications.
  • Obtain a sample every 100 rolls and contact the Lead QA Tech or Production Supervisor regarding any questionable products.
  • Complete winder reports.
  • Properly install the correct product label and roll identification label on each roll of material.
  • Properly stack rolls on pallets.
  • Ensure the roll printer is working properly.
  • Package each pallet in accordance with the SIPLAST manufacturing specifications.
  • Lubricate bagger and oven chains.
  • Shut down bagger and oven at the end of production runs.
  • Remove bad and wide spec rolls from the conveyor and stack on the appropriate pallet.
  • Reenter wide spec material according to specifications.
  • Keep cores, labels, pallets, shrink bags, banding, glue, and paper foil set up as needed.
  • Operate a forklift to remove bagged pallets from the finishing area.
  • Apply and scan the barcode of the pallet.
  • Place the pallet on the assigned rack.
  • Complete daily forklift checklist for oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, water, and hydraulic fluid on the department forklift and forward to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Complete the Pallet Count report.
  • Inspect questionable rolls.
  • Remove substandard material from rolls.
  • Splice good material together and wind on cores.
  • Insert reclaimed rolls into pallets per company standards.
  • Account for all waste material and seconds produced to ensure accurate daily production records.
  • Complete Reclaiming reports.
  • Record various product characteristics (roll length and width, selvage width, roll weight, thickness, mat placement, product appearance, etc.) on the Q.A. Report for samples cut every 100 rolls.
  • Assist Product Technicians during machine downtime (changeovers, material breaks, sticking, etc.).
  • Perform periodic thorough cleaning duties including tanks, sandpit, various machines, and outside areas.
  • Keep area clean and orderly.
  • Serve on action teams and committees as needed.
  • Comply with the SIPLAST Quality System and its provisions.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and policies.
  • Utilize all prescribed PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times in designated areas (such as safety glasses, welding hoods, gloves, cutting goggles, respirators, shoes, vests, etc.).
  • Observe all safety requirements (such as anti-static, lock out/tag out, hot work permits, forklift seatbelt, etc.).
  • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Immediately report safety hazards to appropriate management.
  • Proactively look for safety improvements and bring them to the attention of supervisors and/or the corporate standards manager.
