About The Position

Performs dining server functions in an upscale dining atmosphere and a variety of related service duties. Maintains clean, sanitary, and organized dining areas, facilities, and equipment, and may assist with some food preparation. Provides an elevated dining experience for residents and guests while following recipes, diet orders, resident preference cards, work assignments, and applicable policies and standards. The position involves routine and repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions and requires patience, tolerance, sound judgment, service orientation, and effective communication.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience waiting tables in a fine dining or country club venue; 2 to 3 years is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and family members.
• Ability to develop constructive working and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Service orientation and excellent organizational skills.
• Active listening and effective communication competencies.
• Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccine when working within St. Louis County, in accordance with county health regulations.
• Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents and withstand temperature and humidity changes, including in refrigerated storage areas and near ovens, ranges, dishwashing machines, and steam tables.
• Must be free from infections or diseases.
• Ability to lift and carry a 20-pound tray from a height of 36 inches for 100 feet; walk continuously for one-half mile; push or pull a 180-pound sled 20 feet using 30 pounds of force; push a wheelchair loaded to 200 pounds for 100 feet; push or pull 30 pounds; and perform one full squat.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service that promotes satisfaction and reflects an upscale dining experience.
• Take and serve food and beverage orders promptly and appropriately.
• Greet customers courteously and make timely decisions to address dissatisfied customers.
• Know menu details, including item descriptions, allergens, and preparation and cooking methods.
• Make menu recommendations and share additional information with customers.
• Know drink recipes and enter them into computer software.
• Serve 16 or more guests at a time and recall orders upon request.
• Check products for quality and correct issues that could affect a guest's experience.
• Perform assigned work routines using dining service utensils, supplies, and equipment.
• Assist with dining service setup, including setting up dining rooms and tables, stocking buffets and service stations, preparing beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items according to recipes, and assisting at catering events.
• Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring foods are served at proper temperatures and on time.
• Clean dining service areas by completing daily cleaning duties, bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, removing trash, stocking and storing items correctly, and maintaining clean work areas.
