This position involves preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. The cook will wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables, and weigh, measure, and mix ingredients. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists, as well as preparing cold foods. The cook will operate various kitchen appliances such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, and test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently. Monitoring food quality during preparation, setting up and breaking down the work station, and serving food in proper portions are also key duties. Additionally, the cook will be responsible for washing and disinfecting the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment, and checking and ensuring the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. The role also requires adherence to all company and safety/security policies and procedures, reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions. The cook must complete safety training and certifications, maintain a clean and professional appearance, protect company assets, and communicate clearly and professionally. Developing positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and listening appropriately to employee concerns are important. The position requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, reaching overhead and below the knees, and performing tasks that involve bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The cook must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors may also be assigned.
