About The Position

Responsibilities encompass lesson planning, technique instruction, and fostering creative expression. Tasks involve student guidance, and curriculum development. Assists individuals to explore various art forms, including painting, sculpture, drawing, and art media. Informs individuals about art techniques, color, form, layout and other facets of artistic creation. Ensures that individuals receive appropriate supervision in the arts studio, including the proper storage and disposal of supplies, to maintain health and safety. Educate, expose and allow individuals to experience various art forms outside of MTC and transportation service as it pertains to gallery and exhibit outings with art students. Promote individuals' choices in pursuing creative talent and working on projects that are meaningful to them. Maintain the MTC Fine Arts Gallery and ensure display is current, pieces displayed appropriately, labeled and priced. Ensures necessary agreements with individuals are current. Promote MTC and MTC Fine Arts at various community events and venues, including art festivals. Coordinate Art Open House(s), and guest art speakers. Work closely with the Development and the Community Engagement & Partnerships teams to support marketing of MTC. Oversee and work closely with Sabal's art program & mentors other art instructor. Travel between Cypress & Sabal locations to ensure consistency in art program. Keeps track of art inventory & monthly reconciliation of art sales. Focuses on a people-first approach across the organization. Diagnoses problems quickly, foresees potential issues, and delivers resolution. Maintain an environment of respect and kindness where all employees can do their best work. Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in fine arts, graphic arts, or related field required. In lieu of BA, will consider an Associate's degree from an accredited college in fine arts, graphic arts or related field with at least 2 years' experience.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal/instructional skills.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Understanding of digital media, computer hardware, and software systems.
  • Knowledge /Understanding of developmental disabilities, person-centered model, and personal outcomes and ability to apply differentiated education, instruction, and training to persons of varying ability levels.
  • Ability to work in self-directed and teamwork environments.
  • Familiarity with a variety of art media, tools, and techniques and the instruction on all.
  • Understanding of the process of creating, framing, and displaying art in a gallery or exhibit setting and/or for submission for consideration in contests.
  • Demonstrated artistic talent.
  • Ability to facilitate instruction of and expression through art.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task.
  • Must be adaptable, collaborative, creative, and mission driven.
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work to accomplish the outcomes of the job and represent MTC at special events.
  • Must pass a Level II background check/fingerprinting (https://info.flclearinghouse.com), drug screening, and FDOT/MVR check.
