About The Position

Provide visionary leadership, curricular direction, and operational oversight for a comprehensive Fine Arts program. Supervise, support, and develop Fine Arts faculty to ensure a cohesive, high-quality program that promotes artistic excellence, supports student growth, and aligns with academic and accrediting standards, the school’s mission, and a biblical worldview. In addition to departmental leadership responsibilities, the position will also teach Fine Arts classes as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Music, Art Education, Education, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of classroom teaching experience required.
  • A valid teaching license from the State of Indiana (or eligible for licensure).
  • Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to effectively supervise, support, mentor, and collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Professional, approachable, and relationship-oriented with strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Creative, flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented while maintaining consistency and appropriate accountability.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, communication platforms, and standard office software applications.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage performances, productions, and large-scale events.
  • Knowledge of Fine Arts curriculum development and instructional best practices.
  • Ability to manage budgets and departmental resources responsibly.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Prior experience in Fine Arts program leadership, faculty supervision, department coordination, or educational leadership preferred.
  • The Christian Philosophy of Education (CPoE) project certification is required but may be obtained within 3 years of the date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the High School Principal to establish and implement the vision, goals, and strategic direction for the Fine Arts Department.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for all Fine Arts programs, performances, productions, and departmental activities.
  • Supervise, support, mentor, and evaluate Fine Arts faculty to promote instructional excellence, professional growth, and alignment with departmental and school expectations.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Fine Arts curriculum to ensure alignment with academic standards, program objectives, and a biblical worldview.
  • Oversee and coordinate the Fine Arts calendar, including performances, exhibitions, rehearsals, competitions, tours, and special events.
  • Coordinate and oversee performing ensemble tours, trips, and related student travel activities.
  • Oversee Fine Arts facilities, equipment, instruments, costumes, and production resources to ensure proper maintenance, organization, safety, and stewardship.
  • Attend, or ensure Fine Arts staff representation at, K–12 Fine Arts events held on the HCS campus.
  • Assist in the development and management of the departmental budget in collaboration with the High School Principal.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and enrollment initiatives related to Fine Arts programs and courses.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate behavioral expectations and standards for students participating in Fine Arts programs and activities.
  • Actively support and participate in the Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA) parent organization and related engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with school leadership on special programs, events, and initiatives involving Fine Arts participation.
  • Serve on school committees and leadership teams as assigned.
  • Represent and advocate for the Fine Arts Department at academic, social, community, and public events.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, faculty, alumni, and community partners to promote and support the Fine Arts program.
  • Teach Fine Arts classes as assigned and provide instructional support or classroom coverage when needed.
