About The Position

Provide leadership and coordination to ensure an aligned instructional program for the Frisco ISD Fine Arts programs by working collaboratively with principals, teachers, staff, and appropriate committees regarding curriculum development, instructional materials, classroom resources, assessment tools, and the implementation of the Frisco ISD Fine Arts programs.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • Principal/Administrative certification preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Mastery of best practices for Fine Arts instruction and assessment
  • Thorough understanding of technology relevant to the areas of responsibility
  • Extensive content knowledge and a desire to learn about and support all divisions
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and facilitate adult learning experiences (professional development) and oversee divisional professional learning communities within specific areas of responsibility
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience in a Fine Arts classroom
  • Campus and district educational leadership experience preferred
  • Curriculum writing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, strengthen, promote, and coordinate the Fine Arts instructional programming to help students develop a sense of self-worth and critical thinking skills.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to supervise the instructional and extra-curricular programs of assigned divisions for a strong Fine Arts Department.
  • Coordinate the selection, implementation, development, evaluation, and revision of instructional materials.
  • Focus assigned subject area curriculum and programming toward accomplishing the District’s mission and goals.
  • Develop evaluative instruments and analyze evaluation data to guide program improvement.
  • Plan instructional programs to meet identified needs.
  • Monitor instructional processes systematically and continuously to verify that program activities are keyed to producing desired program outcomes and recognition of programs’ success.
  • Work with the Managing Director of Fine Arts and Assistant Director of Fine Arts on all internal and external communication initiatives including social media, collaboration with the Communications Department, or others as assigned.
  • Employ excellent interpersonal skills and promote collaborative teaming by working with faculty and encouraging student-parent input to develop a more positive school climate.
  • Encourage and support student performances, productions, and exhibits in the schools and community when they are representing the school and/or the District.
  • Encourage, organize, and administer Fine Arts exhibitions, shows, and competitions.
  • Participate in community activities that foster rapport and mutual respect between the District and the larger community.
  • Serve as a liaison with appropriate state and national organizations and network with area districts in order to collaborate and share best practices.

  • Recognize and reinforce excellence.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing applicants who are qualified to lead and support arts programs for the District.
  • Make sound recommendations concerning personnel placement, transfers, retentions, and dismissals to the Managing Director of Fine Arts and campus administration.
  • Report to the Managing Director of Fine Arts and campus administrators on the status of performance related to responsibilities.
  • Secure consultants, specialists, materials, and other community resources to assist in meeting program goals.
  • Collaborate with the Professional Development department to develop and maintain a Fine Arts professional development program that provides varied growth opportunities for the Fine Arts staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of innovative and effective curriculum practices related to Fine Arts through professional learning activities.
  • Participate in professional organizations representing the various Fine Arts areas.
  • Monitor and maintain the equipment inventory of the Fine Arts Department.
  • Assist in developing basic equipment and material lists for new and existing buildings.
  • Contribute to the development of budgets by submitting cost estimates based upon documented needs.
  • Assist the Managing Director of Fine Arts and the Purchasing Office in the construction and recommendation of bids for the Fine Arts Department.
  • Employ effective interpersonal skills.
  • Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
  • Implement and monitor applicable policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education Rules, and local Board policy.
  • Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Frisco ISD.
  • Follow the attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
