About The Position

As part of the Financial System Transformation Program, the Data Team is leading data readiness activities for the City's transition to SAP S/4HANA. This is achieved through planning and coordinating the execution of data cleansing (in accordance to accounting standards and policies), developing data governance and maintenance activities in collaboration with divisional stakeholders and the system integrator. The Financial Trainee will assist in providing various financial support functions, including preparing data for financial transformation activities.

Requirements

• Experience in accounting or finance administration or equivalent combination of education experience.
• Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email (Outlook), SAP or other financial accounting software.
• Strong mathematical and data analytical skills with familiarity of accounting concepts and procedures.
• Very good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with staff and clients in an efficient and diplomatic manner, both in person and over the phone.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assists with accounting/purchasing/payroll/budget duties.
• Assists with the compilation of financial/accounting/purchasing/payroll/budget and statistical information.
• Enters and updates and matches financial data, account information, etc.
• Assists in processing accounts, billings, collections, etc.
• Collects, compiles, extracts and organizes data for others to use/analyze.
• Assists with calculations.
• Assists with preparation of financial statements.
• Distributes documentation.
• Responds to enquiries by referring to appropriate staff.
