Financial Systems Specialist (Cyber)

Defense Finance and Accounting Service•Indianapolis, IN

About The Position

The Financial Systems Specialist (Cyber) applies security access controls and policies for administration of access across critical financial and personnel systems, including DJMS, DMO, CMS, DDMS, and DCPS. The role manages, tracks, and analyzes transaction, access, and error reports; examines error types to identify trends and root causes; and implements corrective actions and training. The specialist serves as the lead technical expert for internal and external audits, compiling and verifying documentation against regulatory policies, coordinating audit timelines, conducting reviews, and helping remediate deficiencies. The position also monitors system logs, parameters, and access to help prevent unauthorized use, fraud, and waste; investigates access anomalies and security violations; and standardizes military and civilian pay workflows and business rules through maintained SOPs and technical guides aligned with Department of War policies. This is a national security position that may require access to classified information and a favorable security determination. The position requires a DoD Financial Management Level 2 Certification within two years of entry on duty unless the employee is already subject to that certification requirement. Travel is seldom required. Telework is limited and available only rarely on a case-by-case basis when agency leadership determines there is a compelling DoD need.
