OpenAI•San Francisco, CA
•$240,000 - $266,000•Hybrid

About The Position

As a Financial Systems Engineer, you will design, build, and operate financial systems and integrations that support critical accounting processes across Oracle Fusion Cloud and OpenAI’s finance technology ecosystem. You will partner with Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data, Tax, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and auditable solutions. The role combines deep Oracle Financials expertise, accounting process knowledge, and an engineering mindset. Work spans corporate accounting processes such as equity, payroll, accruals, leases, mergers and acquisitions, intercompany, and close; Accounts Payable transformation; supply chain and cost accounting; ASC 606 revenue recognition; and compute and data-center accounting. You will apply automation, AI, and agentic approaches to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and accelerate accounting and close processes. The position is based in San Francisco, California, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is offered to new employees.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in financial systems engineering, ERP, accounting technology, or solution architecture roles, with demonstrated ownership of complex finance transformation initiatives.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Financials and experience with several of the following: General Ledger, Payables, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, Intercompany, Cash Management, Cost Accounting, and Financial Accounting Hub.
  • Experience delivering at least two full-cycle Oracle Fusion implementations or comparably complex enterprise finance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate accounting processes, including equity, payroll, expense accruals, lease accounting, mergers and acquisitions, reconciliations, and financial close.
  • Hands-on experience transforming Accounts Payable processes and integrating procurement, invoicing, tax, payments, suppliers, and reporting capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain accounting, Supply Chain Financial Orchestration, inventory and cost accounting, standard and landed costs, purchase price variance, logistics costs, and cost of goods sold.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and experience designing Oracle-integrated accounting solutions for hardware, supply chain, and other complex or nonstandard revenue arrangements in partnership with Revenue Accounting and Engineering teams.
  • Experience implementing Oracle Financial Accounting Hub from initial design through production for multiple upstream subledger applications, including accounting rules, integrations, controls, and reconciliations.
  • Experience working with enterprise integrations teams using Oracle Integration Cloud or similar middleware, Oracle Fusion APIs, event-driven patterns, Python, SQL, and modern data platforms.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience applying AI, agents, automation, and nontraditional engineering approaches to finance operations and close processes.
  • Experience resolving global intercompany challenges involving foreign exchange, multi-entity balancing, netting, settlement, and reconciliations.
  • A strong controls and compliance mindset, with the judgment to improve automation and user experience without compromising auditability or data integrity.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to translate between Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Data, and business stakeholders.
  • A bias for action paired with systems thinking: ability to solve urgent operational problems while designing scalable foundations for future growth.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
