About The Position

As member of a flexible and cross-trained Financial Support Services team, the Financial Support Specialist analyzes and prepares contribution and constituent data and gifts for internal processing or for delivery/reporting to an external customer, donor, or other United Way team.

  • Demonstrated competence with office technology, the Internet, CRM systems, and solid skills with MS Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Cash handling experiences preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, account management and/or related experience preferred.
  • Experience working at another United Way is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Takes responsibility for Grant input and output activity associated with donor contributions, prepares monthly designation payout data and designation payments on behalf of major donors) and supports accounting team in researching and resolving processing issues.
  • Analyzes pledge receivables for collection, coordinates collection follow-up with companies and third-party processors and coordinates such efforts with teammates and colleagues.
  • Prepares and /or extracts, transforms and loads constituent and contribution data from external sources for further processing (includes pledge and payment data files and other related data).
  • Receives, analyzes, prepares, audits and routes incoming pledges, cash, checks, EFT’s and contribution data files for processing based on review of open pledges receivable, processing requirements, information from internal data systems and data downloaded from external web portals.
  • Prepares deposits of cash and checks, enters contribution and related information into electronic forms on behalf of donors as needed, extracts, manipulates and standardizes electronic data files to prepare for support processing, submits requests for gift, pledge and payment adjustments, and tracks follow-through.
  • Maintains and updates donor and agency accounts, company processing expectations and other constituent or contribution related information in data management systems/databases using a variety of methods.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to enhance donor and customer experiences and operational efficiency.
  • Performs QA and takes steps to mitigate errors in gift and constituent data based on ongoing review of data integrity.
  • Prepares reconciliations, reports and analysis related to donor gifts and related data sets for internal and external use and to support business decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
