About The Position

This position will perform and deliver on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of their assigned areas of Financial Reporting responsibility. They will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting on activities associated with accounting principles and standards, and financial statements.

Requirements

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Degree in Accounting preferred
  • 1 - 3+ Years of experience in Financial Analysis or Reporting that aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • CPA preferred, not required
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in insurance/financial services (Statutory Reporting)
  • Experience working with Hyperion Essbase, SAP Business Objects, PeopleSoft, Workiva, Sovos Statutory Reporting(Wings)

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, analyzing and reporting on financial statements and supporting schedules according to the accounting and reporting calendars.
  • Participating in accounting close including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Conducting financial analysis on consolidated and business unit results, including providing ongoing support for the business unit teams and our various other partners as needed.
  • Maintaining knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned areas of responsibility, assessing the impact, and collaborating with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Identifying and researching reporting issues arising from application of accounting principles and standards and rules and regulations of the NAIC and other regulators and assessing their applicability.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and filing quarterly and annual Statutory NAIC financial statements and other regulatory filings.
  • Promoting and enhancing organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Identify and communicating to management process improvements that reduce workloads or improve quality for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Performing and delivering on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Providing support with the coordination of SOX, MAR and regulatory testing to comply with key controls developed for the group.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing of internal management reporting.
