About The Position

GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager! Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this role plays a key part in supporting GeoSpectrum’s continued growth by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. The Financial Reporting Manager is deeply involved in the financial close process, internal controls, and compliance activities, while also contributing to broader strategic financial initiatives. This is a hands‑on, technically focused role that offers the opportunity to both execute and enhance financial reporting processes. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a continuous‑improvement mindset to help strengthen reporting quality and support the organization’s long‑term objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Experience in a mid-sized organization (approximately $100M–$500M revenue).
  • Strong expertise in full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience managing audits and working with external advisors.
  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and insightful variance analyses.
  • Maintain and evolve accounting policies in line with applicable Canadian accounting standards.
  • Support organizational risk management through sound financial practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline finance processes and reporting.
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support enterprise risk management and adherence to corporate governance requirements.
  • Play a key role in annual budgeting and rolling forecast cycles.
  • Deliver meaningful financial analysis and insights to support informed decision making.
  • Monitor performance, highlight trends, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
  • Partner with department leaders on cost management and resource planning initiatives.
  • Own and optimize financial systems, including ERP, payroll, expense management, and reporting tools.
  • Lead or support finance system upgrades and implementations.
  • Document, refine, and scale accounting processes to support organizational growth.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.
  • Support key business initiatives such as acquisitions, new contracts, pricing strategies, and capital investments.
  • Provide timely and thoughtful financial analysis for executives and the board as needed.
