Financial Reporting and Cost Accountant
About The Position
Tempur Sealy is seeking a Financial Reporting and Cost Accountant to perform general accounting activities across one or more accounting disciplines, including accounts receivable and payable, cost accounting, financial reporting, global financial reporting, internal auditing, inventory control, and payroll. The role supports accurate accounting and reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC requirements. It also works with internal departments and external parties to support accounting processes and company objectives, improve practices and accuracy, and complete ad hoc requests and special projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent related experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Nice To Haves
- Related experience or training is strongly preferred.
- CPA license or desire to obtain a CPA license is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting activities in one or more areas: AR and AP, cost accounting, financial reporting, global financial reporting, internal auditing, inventory control, and payroll.
- Complete account reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.
- Assist with the company’s internal audit plan.
- Perform cost allocation.
- Assist in developing and enhancing inventory systems.
- Ensure accounting work and deliverables follow GAAP.
- Assist in ensuring financial reports and disclosures comply with Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external parties to support accounting processes and company objectives.
- Identify and implement best practices to improve existing processes and accuracy.
- Provide support for ad hoc requests and special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
