About The Position

Contributes to NSU’s success by equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to make informed financial decisions during college and throughout their lives. Provides proactive financial education through workshops, one-on-one counseling, and strategic campus partnerships. This position is located in Main Campus.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of financial aid programs, student loans, and money management principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Working knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
  • General knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient skills in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Proficient skills in actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Proficient skills in motivating oneself to work independently, as well as working well within teams.

  • High School Diploma and four (4) years of relevant business or finance experience, -OR- Associate’s Degree or 60 completed college credit hours and three (3) years of relevant business or finance experience, -OR- Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of relevant business or finance experience.

  • Certification in financial counseling or coaching (e.g., AFC®, NFEC CFEI®).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing and delivering financial literacy presentations, workshops, and webinars on topics such as budgeting, student loan management, credit management, savings, and other personal finance topics.
  • Provides guidance and counseling to students on responsible borrowing, student loan repayment options, and strategies for long-term financial stability.
  • Researches financial topics and develops educational materials, including online tools, presentations, and worksheet, to support students in building strong money-management skills.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to integrate and promote financial literacy programming within the academic curriculum.
  • Responds to student inquiries and appropriately refers complex or sensitive cases for further support.
  • Tracks student engagement data and evaluates program effectiveness using surveys, assessments, and feedback tools.
  • Attends and participates in relevant trainings, workshops, and meetings to stay current on financial literacy and financial aid updates.
  • Accesses federal, state, and private systems to review, verify, and report student financial information.
  • Represents the office at university events, orientations, and community outreach activities.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
