Financial Implementation Manager

Dockwa•Newport, RI

About The Position

The Financial Implementation Manager provides dedicated accounting expertise as marinas migrate from legacy systems or establish accounting integrations with Dockwa. The role owns Dockwa’s standard for configuring customer books, handles complex financial cutovers and accounting escalations, defines the boundary between explaining Dockwa’s accounting behavior and providing accounting advice, and develops a paid financial setup offering. It also trains customer-facing teams to handle standard setups and shares recurring product opportunities with the VP of Product. The role develops and maintains accounting standards and customer-facing integration documentation for supported ledgers, initially QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and Sage. Topics include chart-of-accounts templates, revenue recognition, deposits and boater ledger balances, refunds and credits, sales tax, fuel cost of goods, tips, and Stripe payout reconciliation. For complex migrations, including multi-location and enterprise groups, the manager leads financial cutover work involving opening balances, open receivables, in-flight contracts, and the first reconciled month-end close on Dockwa. They investigate difficult accounting or integration issues, resolve them or coordinate with engineering, and communicate outcomes to marinas. They also define and deliver a paid Financial Setup package with Sales and Customer Success, including its scope, margin, and customer experience. The manager establishes training and certification so Customer Success and onboarding staff can manage standard implementations and recognize when to escalate. They define guidance that keeps the team focused on explaining how Dockwa posts rather than giving tax or GAAP advice, and build a referral list of accountants familiar with marinas and Dockwa. Each quarter, they provide the VP of Product with a ranked list of product improvements informed by recurring customer questions, with the goal of reducing manual work over time.

  • Build a referral list of accountants familiar with marinas and Dockwa for customers who need accounting advice.
