About The Position

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed, private psychiatric center located in beautiful, sunny Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults; and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults. Position Summary The Financial Counselor is responsible for maintaining records in patient accounting, insurance reimbursement and billing and collection processing. Additionally, this role will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits on all admissions as well as potential admissions; collections with self-pay accounts on the front and back end of a patient’s stay.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to deal with diverse and stress related situations in a calm manner
Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Must have good organizational and computer technical skills and have the ability to set priorities.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years’ experience working in health care verifications and self-pay collections preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with Obtaining required income documentation and forms for patients who qualify for Charity/Indigent Care.
Makes necessary phone calls and generates letters to patients and/or family members for any self pay balances.
Takes an active role in attaining and maintaining accounts receivable and assists in reviewing/selecting accounts to be placed with outside collection agencies.
Secures patient valuables in accordance with the established Policy and Procedures.
