About The Position

As our Financial Controller, you are the vital link between our clinical excellence and our organization's financial health. You don’t just report on the numbers; you own the full financial performance and strategic clarity of the organization. In this role, you will have ultimate ownership over our profitability, revenue accuracy, and budget performance. By partnering closely with our CEO, Clinical Leadership, and Operations teams, you will ensure our growth is sustainable, intentional, and backed by high-level financial decision-making. Your mission is to provide the "cash clarity" and data-driven insights needed to scale our impact with confidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience preferred
  • Comfortable with RCM (Revenue Cycle Management)
  • Comfortable building data dashboards

Nice To Haves

  • CPA (Highly Preferred)
  • Healthcare experience (specifically ABA or multi-site clinics) is a massive plus

Responsibilities

  • Own company-wide and clinic-level P&Ls
  • Provide real-time visibility into revenue, expenses, and profitability
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across clinics
  • Track and analyze BCBA billable hours vs. expectations, utilization (authorized vs. delivered hours), and caseload vs. revenue output
  • Partner with CCO + Clinical Leadership to align clinical expectations with financial targets and ensure billing practices support both compliance and profitability
  • Flag underperformance early and provide solutions
  • Partner with RCM VP to ensure accurate billing and clean claims, strong collections (≥97%), and reduced AR aging
  • Identify and resolve revenue leakage, delays in billing or collections, and payer-specific issues
  • Own department and clinic-level budgeting
  • Reallocate resources (“move money”) to ensure budgets work in real time
  • Build budgets tied to staffing (BCBAs, RBTs), client demand and authorizations, and clinic expansion plans
  • Work with COO + Operations on supply vs. demand planning and hiring timelines tied to revenue
  • Manage and forecast cash flow with visibility into insurance payment cycles, payroll and major expenses
  • Create clear views of true profit (pre vs. post tax strategy) and owner expenses and adjustments
  • Provide clarity on cash available for expansion, raises and incentives, and capital projects
  • Ensure financials are aligned for banking, lending, and investments
  • Analyze major cost drivers: Labor (BCBA/RBT), Facilities and maintenance, Admin and overhead
  • Partner with leadership to set cost targets, improve margins, and reduce inefficiencies without impacting care
  • Build dashboards (Lightdash or similar) showing revenue (billed vs. collected), clinic performance, and cash flow
  • Ensure leadership has simple, real-time financial visibility
  • Improve speed and accuracy of reporting
  • Align billable expectations, caseloads, and clinical quality with CCO (Clinical)
  • Align staffing, scheduling, and clinic performance with COO (Operations)
  • Ensure revenue integrity and collections with RCM
  • Support compensation and workforce planning with HR/People Ops
  • Drive financial recommendations and decision-making, with final approval by ownership
  • Ensure budgets are not just created, but actively managed and adjusted in real time
  • Provide leadership with clear financial direction for decision-making
  • Design and model bonus and incentive structures
  • Provide visibility into what is financially feasible for raises, bonuses, and incentives
  • Align incentives with profitability, revenue performance, and clinical and operational outcomes
  • Help leaders understand their financial impact and opportunities
  • Ensure alignment with healthcare billing standards and insurance compliance
  • Maintain clean, audit-ready financials
