About The Position
NetAdmins is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team in Saint John, NB. This role involves owning the financial engine of the business, working directly with the President, and bringing both financial rigor and business pragmatism. The position requires a hands-on approach, from processing transactions to strategic financial modeling and process improvement. The Financial Controller will have significant ownership and visibility within the company, with their work and voice being highly valued.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Hands-on background in full-cycle accounting, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Comfortable presenting financial results to a non-finance audience
- Ability to translate numbers into practical recommendations
- Takes ownership and follows through
- Organized and calm under pressure
- Handles confidential information with discretion
- Comfortable in a small business environment where priorities shift and not everything comes with a playbook
Nice To Haves
- CPA designation is strongly preferred, though candidates actively working toward it will be considered
- Experience with QuickBooks and BambooHR (or similar platforms)
- Background in professional services or a technology environment
Responsibilities
- Financial leadership and reporting
- Monthly financial results, analysis, and reporting to the President
- Cash flow monitoring, working capital management, and internal controls
- Annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis
- Financial modelling to support business decisions (staffing, pricing, investment)
- Oversight of AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Relationship with external accountants and auditors; year-end close coordination
- Oversight of payroll processing, statutory remittances, T4s, and ROEs
- GST/HST filings and CRA compliance
- Procurement, inventory management, and vendor relationships
- HR compliance, benefits administration, and employee recordkeeping
- Process improvement as the business grows and systems evolve
