About The Position

The Controller directs, manages, supervises, plans, and coordinates all activities and operations of an institution's major accounting divisions. Responsible for preparation of recurring and ad hoc financial reporting and related analysis work to support decision making for the institution.

Requirements

  • Advance knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices.
  • Knowledge of auditing principles, financial reporting, accounting regulations and internal controls.
  • Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience.
  • A "team-first" attitude.
  • Personal and professional skills for a management level position.
  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, and non-profit.
  • CPA or advanced business degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and coordinating the institution's day to day financial affairs in all major accounting divisions including: payroll and benefits, accounts payable and receivable, revenue collections, student loan collections, and external and internal financial reporting.
  • Maintain the Universities Accounting system (Banner), schedule and review recurring and ad hoc financial reports, review and approve purchase requisitions, maintain policies and procedures, direct production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, Final approval of all OASIS (State accounting system) documents.
  • Responsible for coordination of the university's financial system with the state system.
  • Supervising and directing the work activities of accountants as well as other financial supporting staff assigned to the unit.
